Rory describes his expereince at the MIHP

               


Rory is a Sports Rehabilitation student at the University of Salford.

As part of his clinical experience he has completed a six week placement at the MIHP.

He has been working with Boxers, Climbers and Military personnel. 

He has really increased his confidence outside the classroom, performing manual handling skills and spinal mobilisation techniques.

The University of Salford Therapy department now have a service that is run by students as part of their learning experience as they translate theory from the classroom into practical skills with real patients.

Kirsty describes her expereince at the MIHP

                 


Kirsty has just finished a six week placment at the MIHP.

She is a second year student that has just completed the spinal module at the University of Salford.

She has enjoyed putting theory into practice especially with Spinal patients 

Her confidence has really increased throughout the six weeks.

Kirsty has enjoyed using specialist Physio equipment such as massage guns, taping, Compex and Instument Assisted Myofascial Release.

Jack describes his expereince at the MIHP

                

Jack is a second year Physiotherapy student.

He has just finished a six week placement at the MIHP

Manchester Institute of Health and Performance 


Jack recommends this experience to increase the confidence for other students wanting to work in the Musculo-Skeletal Out-patients environment.

The most affordable Physio in Manchester



February has been a busy month as the Student-Led Physiotherapy Service restarted at the beginning of the month.


A new group of students from the University of Salford will learn how to apply the theory from the class room to real life patients.


Pro Boxer Wycombe King has been with us getting some expert treatment from Dale Walker and the Students as they prepare to get him back in the fight.

The Student-Led Therapy Service is BACK!



The Student-Led Therapy Service at the MIHP is back for February 2020.

Taking bookings from 5th of February.

We return for Wednesday afternoons from 1 - 5 pm.

We remain the most affordable Physio in Manchester at only £10 per session.

If you have a niggle or have been delaying seeing someone about a joint or muscle issue let’s get it sorted as YOU start the new year.

Last Student-Led Physio Session for 2019


The Student-Led Therapy Service has just tomorrow left before we break for a well-deserved rest.

That means Wednesday 11th is the Clinical day before Christmas at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP).

We would like to thank all of our amazing patients for using our service.

We return in February 2020 to begin a new year of clinical practice.

The Student-Led Therapy Service is BACK!



The Student-Led Therapy Service started back this week after a two month break.

This means that it is Autumn and the first Semester has already started.
Time passes by so quickly so if you have an injury, pain or dysfunction it is worth getting checked out as soon as possible.

The Student-Led Therapy Service is the most affordable Physiotherapy in Manchester, costing only £10 per session. 







The Student-Led Therapy Service is a combination of both Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation students from the University of Salford.

The students gain from this valuable experience by treating REAL patients allowing them to practically apply their knowledge from the University Teaching.

Their Physiotherapy lecturer Dale Walker runs the clinic and is there for guidance and advice.

Amelia is a Full-Time Physio Student and was keen to learn new manual techniques such as myofascial release.

Daire talks about his experience of the Student-Led Physio service from ...




The Student-Led Therapy Service is now a mix of both Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation students from the University of Salford.

Daire is a Physiotherapy Student and describes his experience over 6 weeks as being beneficial to his future career and placements.

The student experience of Therapy is not just about learning in the classroom, but with real patients in a safe and controlled environment at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance.

Rachel describes her experience at the MIHP

                    



The Student-Led Therapy Service is now a mix of both Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation students from the University of Salford.

Rachel has completed 6 weeks of Voluntary placement at the MIHP which she described as, "a great experience."

The students are keen to get "hands on" and learn new practical skills that will aid them in assessment, treatment and management of musculo-skeletal injury.

The Student-Led Therapy Service allows the student to have autonomy with their Lecturer, Dale Walker supervising and mentoring them through their learning experience.

Despite only being in their first year, Students from the University of Salford are already capable of basic diagnosis, treatment and exercise prescription for real patients.

In their first year of study the cover peripheral Postural assessment, movement analysis, anatomy and physiology, electrotherapy, manual therapy, massage, and joint mobilisation.

Students get the opportunity to work at the MIHP for 6 weeks, under the guidance of their Physio Tutors, Dale Walker and Ray Healy.

Every Wednesday afternoon Physio Students from the University of Salford provide affordable Physiotherapy for the Manchester Community by running our Student-Led Physio Service at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP).

This week was a rare treat where I attended a conference on Tendinopathy and Bone stress delivered by an expert team incuding:
