Rick describes his experience at the MIHP

Rick worked at the MIHP for six weeks from Mid-October to end of December.

Rick is an International Student from Hong Kong.

“It’s really, really good!”

"Everything we have learned at the University is completely applicable to Physio with real patients."

He has learned useful and critical skills that we are not taught at the University of Salford, that you can only really see in clinical practice.

Under the guidance of his Physio Tutors Dale Walker and Ray Healy.

Henry describes his experience at the MIHP

Henry worked at the MIHP for six weeks from Mid-October to end of December.

Henry is an International Student from Hong Kong.

Consolidates the knowledge from learning theory at the University of Salford into practice with real patients.

In addition, his Clinical Reasoning has significantly improved.

More realistic, as he was given the autonomy to do both subjective and objective assessments.

In order to become familiar with what Physio really is and what Physio can do for his patients.

Under the guidance of his Physio Tutors Dale Walker and Ray Healy.

Rachel describes her experience at the MIHP

I volunteered for the MIHP Clinic from September to mid-October.

It was such a useful experience- Dale and Ray supported us with teaching sessions before the service users came to the clinic, so you felt assured before you went in that you would be able to manage the patient.

Dale and Ray were also just outside if you needed any advice or weren’t sure of something.

We learnt so many transferable skills on manual handling and exercise prescription, and also some treatment techniques that we wouldn’t see in University such as Acupuncture and Myo-fascial release.

It was really lovely to see yourself having a positive impact on someone else’s life and made me more confident as a health professional.

Aine describes her experience at the MIHP

Aine’s feedback

"I had a brilliant experience volunteering at the MIHP."

During the six weeks my practical and communication skills improved no end, and I also I grew in confidence.

It was great being able to put the theory we learned in University into practice on real patients while also having a lecturer there to support us if we had any problems.

During the six weeks we were also learned how to use some very specialist equipment such as Compex which I might never have get the opportunity to use otherwise.

I would highly recommend the MIHP to any student looking to improve their skills and knowledge.

Lauren & Her Experience at the Student-Led Physio Service - MIHP

Lauren has just finished her Physio treatment at the MIHP.

What is interesting is that Lauren is a Physio Student on our course.

It is great for the students to see that patients are people just like them.

At some points in our lives we will all be patients who need Physiotherapy.

At least we know Lauren will do her exercises!
